This blog contains essays on being attached to the Am. military in Wurzburg, Germany, throughout the Cold War. There are essays on the Am schools, the military community, travel and our family's experiences behind the Iron Curtain. It was written over time with a variety of audiences in mind. - I was raised in Michigan and after teaching in Washington State I joined DoDDS in 1961. I met and married Bob Knych in Bad Nauheim, Germany, in 1962. We have Gen, Mike, John, Charlie and Andy. We spent 1965 in Soesterberg, Holland, returned to the US for Bob's masters in Pullman, Washington. Wurzburg, Germany, became our home in 1968. I taught both soldiers and their dependents until retiring to Tucson in 1994. I'm taking classes in creative writing at Pima C C and I've been recording my memories of being with the Am. military in Europe during the Cold War. My Blog Wurzbutggermany.blogspot.com sprang from those writings. This blog is the first chapter of a book I'm writing based on our travels and experiences in Poland where we visited Bob's extended family. The story is fiction, the locations based on places we've been. I realize much of this is subjective and many having the same experiences would draw different conclusions.
